古代地中海世界は、数多くの大小様々な都市・植民都市における個々の人・物・技術の流れや交換の中から多様なネットワークが生まれ、複雑かつ多面的・流動的でありながら、やわらかくまとまった文化形態が形成されてきた。
本シンポジウムでは、カナダより古代ギリシア研究者のジャック・ペロー氏を迎え、古代地中海文化圏を対象とした研究紹介や情報交換を主な目的として、地域的にも、また学問分野的にも横断しながら、その多様な文化の諸相を浮かび上がらせることを試みる。第一部は地中海や古代文明に関する各専門家の講演とし、また第二部は経済繁栄や都市発展の特徴に関する専門的な観点からの見解を交換するパネルトークとして、古代地中海世界へ新たな光を当てたい。
The ancient Mediterranean world had formed its nebulous but well-organized cultural system which was complex, many-sided, and adaptable at the same time, through the exchange of individuals, goods, and skills among many small, large, and colonial cities, ultimately creating diverse networks.
By welcoming to this symposium Prof. Jacques Perreault from Canada who specializes in Ancient Greek studies, we will attempt to reveal the aspects of the diverse Mediterranean cultures while covering the specific areas and the field of study in order to learn about its research and share information in the cultural spheres as the main agenda. Session 1 focuses on presentations by specialists in Mediterranean or ancient cultures, and Session 2 focuses on discussions of specialized points of view about the characteristics of economic growth and urban development to be exchanged, aiming to shed new light on the ancient Mediterranean world.
